Nairobi National Park is the world's only wildlife park in the capital city. The name” Nairobi” comes from a maasai phrase “Enkare Nyrobi ” which translates to “cool water”. Established in 1946, Nairobi National Park is located 7km from the city center and it covers 117.21km2.

The open grass plains with scattered acacia bushes is the host to different wildlife species such as the black rhino, hippos, antelope, baboons, gazelles, cheetahs, lions, buffaloes zebras, giraffes, impalas and over 400 species of birds like the ostriches ,vultures and water bucks. The wide-open savannah plains and backdrop of city skyscrapers allows easy view of the city beauty while in the park.
